- FAO and partners have launched the "Organic Soils and Peatlands Climate Change Mitigation Initiative" at the UNFCCC Climate Talks in Bonn, Germany. At the launch event, FAO released the initiative's first publication on guidance for mitigation from peatlands, which includes summaries of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions quantification methodologies.
- The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has released the first Africa Human Development Report, which examines why hunger continues to be so prevalent in the region and puts forward a series of policy recommendations across the development agenda.
- In the report, the Expert Review Team (ERT) that conducted the centralized review concludes that Monaco’s inventory submission is complete and was prepared and reported in accordance with the UNFCCC reporting guidelines. It also concluded that the GHG inventory is generally in line with the various guidelines by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), with the exception of certain areas.
- The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the submissions from Australia, Gambia on behalf of the least developed countries (LDCs), Nauru on behalf of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), New Zealand, Norway and a joint submission from Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and Peru, containing their views on a workplan for the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action.
- A new World Bank report on Carbon Sequestration in Agricultural Soils presents a review of knowledge and methodologies to assess the impact of different land management practices on soil carbon sequestration rates across the world.

- The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the submissions from Australia and Lebanon containing their views on options and ways for further increasing the level of ambition, which will be reviewed by the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP) at its first session.
- The submissions from Belarus, Iceland and AOSIS were made in response to a request in Decision 1/CMP.7 by the seventh session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP/MOP 7) for Annex I Parties listed in annex 1 to the decision, to submit information on their QELROs for the Kyoto Protocol second commitment period.

- IOM has released a publication based on the proceedings of the workshop on "Climate Change, Environmental Degradation and Migration" held in Geneva, Switzerland, in March 2011. The workshop discussed a comprehensive approach to managing environmental migration, sustainable solutions to protect those affected, and the role of migration as an adaptation strategy.
- The report presents information according to the elements of the capacity-building framework. The Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) may wish to consider the findings and key issues outlined in the report when reviewing the implementation of the capacity-building framework with a view to identifying further steps to enhance the capacity of these countries to respond to climate change.
- The newsletter focuses on projects in Tonga, the development of the Global Atlas for Solar and Wind Energy, workshops on the CDM and Tonga's Energy Roadmap, and new UNDP and IEA reports.
